Welcome to accountingiscool.com! My name is Dr. Jennifer Cainas. I am an accounting professor at the University of South Florida where I have taught for the past 15 years. I currently teach introductory courses for both financial and managerial accounting in both face-to face and online formats. For the past 10 years I have been teaching our large, mass lecture classes and typically have approximately 1,000 students per semester.

Let’s face it – many business students come into an introductory accounting class with fear and dread. And with such large classes, it can be even more intimidating for both students and professors alike! I know it was definitely intimidating for me, the first time I stepped in front of that large, mass lecture hall.

This blog is intended to share ideas on teaching accounting, especially for large classes that can come with its own set of challenges. No matter the class-size, I believe we can create a positive learning environment and show students that accounting is not just the language of business, but that accounting really IS cool!
